Louis XV Walnut Fauteuil

This fauteuil was acquired from a private estate outside Lyon, where it had remained in the same family since the early 20th century. The walnut frame retains its original carving to the seat rail and cabriole legs, with only the upholstery having been sympathetically renewed in a period-appropriate silk. The patina throughout is entirely original: decades of handling have softened the wood's edges in a way that cannot be replicated. Restoration notes: minor structural reinforcement to the rear left leg joint, carried out using traditional hide glue and matched walnut. No replacement of original timber was necessary.
